Following a series of status lines "supporting" the Ethereum ecosystem, founder Vitalik Buterin has recently expressed his excitement about the process of decentralizing the Execution Client browser on this network.

Specifically, in a recent tweet on the social network X, Vitalik Buterin emphasized that Ethereum is now in a state of "No Execution Client can capture 2/3 of the total market share".

The problem of market concentration in an Execution Client software solution has long been a concern for the Ethereum network. This ecosystem has even encouraged the "Client Diversity" movement to reduce the proportion of Geth software, thereby minimizing security risks if any unit encounters an error.

According to data from Client Diversity - SuperMajority Info, Geth's total market share at the time of writing has dropped to 52%, far from the dangerous level of 2/3 of the total network (approximately 66%). This achievement is a significant contribution of Lido Finance in reducing Geth usage in its Node Operator network.

In Q2/2024, the reduction in Geth usage by Operators in the Lido network was approximately -20%, making Nethermind (for the first time in more than 3 years) the most used software in the Lido ecosystem.

Similar to what Vitalik shared, this move is "great news for the stability of the Ethereum Layer-1 network". This is truly a big step forward in the decentralized Execution Client, since the period of May 2024 - when Geth officially reduced its proportion below the level that could be dangerous for the network.

Overall, the Ethereum ecosystem has received a lot of mixed news over the past week. Despite Vitalik's "support" with many status lines talking about the improvement in Layer-1 infrastructure technology, the community is still upset with the recent moves of the Ethereum Foundation, especially the story related to operating costs.
