Good Behaviour !
We common people often get angry with someone or call someone good or bad, but on the contrary, the nature of saints always remains gentle and sweet. Saint Tukaram's nature was also similar, he never got angry at anyone nor said good or bad to anyone. Let us know through this story what was the secret of this good behavior of Saint Tukaram.
Once upon a time, Saint Tukaram was sitting in his ashram. Then one of his disciples, who was a little angry by nature, came before him and said, “Guruji, how do you maintain your behavior so sweet, neither do you get angry at anyone nor do you say anything good or bad to anyone?”
Please tell me the secret of your good behaviour.
The saint said, “I don't know my secret, but I know your secret!”
“My secret! What is that Guru ji?”, the disciple asked in surprise.
“You are going to die in the next week!”, Saint Tukaram said sadly.
If someone else had said this, the disciple could have avoided it jokingly, but how could anyone have refuted what came from the mouth of Saint Tukaram himself?
The disciple became sad and took the blessings of the Guru and left from there.
From that time the nature of the disciple completely changed. He met everyone with love and never got angry at anyone, spending most of his time in meditation and worship. He would also go to those with whom he had ever misbehaved and apologize to them.
Within a week the saint's prediction came to pass. The disciple thought let's see the Guru one last time and take his blessings.
He approached him and said, “Guru ji, my time is about to end, please bless me!”
“My blessings are always with you son. Okay, tell me how were the last seven days? Did you get angry with people and abuse them like before?”, Saint Tukaram asked.
“No-no, not at all. I only had seven days to live, how could I waste it on useless things? I met everyone with love, and also sought forgiveness from those whom I had ever hurt,” the disciple said with alacrity.
Saint Tukaram smiled and said, “This is the secret of my good behaviour. I know I can die any time, so I treat everyone lovingly, and this is the secret of my good behavior.
The disciple understood that Saint Tukaram had shown him the fear of death only to teach him this lesson of life, he vowed to remember this lesson in his mind and moved forward on the path shown by the Guru.
