CAFFEINE : SCIENCE &USES
For over 20 years, I've been drinking coffee every morning, but I always feel sleepy in the afternoon.
It turns out there's a scientific reason for this. And the solution is very easy.
I've been following it for 3 weeks, and my afternoon naps are gone.
1️⃣ Dr. Huberman's Scientific Explanation
Dr. Andrew Huberman, a doctor at Stanford University, suggests something very important in your morning routine:
don't drink coffee for the first 90 minutes after waking up.
This delay is in sync with your body's production of natural cortisol, a hormone that supports wakefulness. By waiting to consume caffeine, you avoid interfering with this natural waking process.
There are significant benefits to waiting to drink coffee.
When you wake up, a chemical called adenosine accumulates in your body, making you feel tired. Caffeine works by blocking adenosine receptors. By allowing adenosine levels to rise slightly, caffeine becomes more effective in keeping you awake later in the day.
So no more afternoon naps! 😊
2️⃣ Dependency
Additionally, this reduces your dependency on caffeine.
If you drink coffee immediately after waking up, your body may rely less on natural cortisol release. Over time, waiting to drink coffee may naturally make you feel more energetic and potentially reduce withdrawal symptoms when you need to skip your morning cup.
It has been very beneficial for me, and hopefully, it will be for you too! 😊
