Buying a Ferrari with Crypto is now possible in the US

Ferrari has initiated the acceptance of cryptocurrency payments for its premium sports cars in the United States, with plans to expand this payment option to Europe, as a response to demands from its affluent clientele, the company’s Chief Marketing and Commercial Officer, Enrico Galliera, informed Reuters.
Unlike numerous major companies that remain wary of cryptocurrency due to its volatile nature and inconsistent regulations, Ferrari aims to adapt to market and customer demands, noting that several of its clients have investments in digital currencies. Tesla had previously adopted, then discontinued, bitcoin payments, citing environmental reasons.
Galliera mentioned that strides have been made in the cryptocurrency industry to lower its carbon footprint, aligning with Ferrari’s goal to achieve carbon neutrality across its operations by 2030. He revealed that the decision was influenced by market and dealer feedback, with a diverse array of investors showing interest in crypto transactions, ranging from young cryptocurrency enthusiasts to traditional investors looking to diversify their assets.
Despite ongoing criticisms regarding the high energy consumption of certain cryptocurrencies, like bitcoin, Ferrari has collaborated with BitPay, a prominent cryptocurrency payment processor, to facilitate transactions in bitcoin, ether, and USDC, ensuring secure and legitimate transactions. BitPay will convert cryptocurrency payments to conventional currency instantaneously, safeguarding dealers from potential market fluctuations. No additional fees or surcharges will be applied for payments made using cryptocurrencies.
Ferrari, which boasts strong sales, with orders secured well into 2025, has sold more than 13,200 cars in 2022. They plan to implement the cryptocurrency payment system across regions where such transactions are legally permissible, aiming to commence operations in Europe by the beginning of next year. Ferrari’s venture into cryptocurrency payments aims not only to meet current customer needs but also to attract potential clients from the expanding cryptocurrency investor base.
“I am confident others will join soon,” Galliera said.
