The list of 10 best American films.

The list of "10 best American films in 10 classic genres according to AFI" was announced on June 17, 2008. The winners were chosen by a jury consisting of 1,500 directors, critics and historians. They chose 100 of the best American films from 500 nominated films (50 for each genre). The most successful films were directed by Alfred Hitchcock, there are four of them on the list. He is followed by Steven Spielberg and Stanley Kubrick - three films each. And among the actors, films with the participation of James Stewart and Diane Keaton are most often found.
