Centralised bridges
Centralised bridges came into play as a solution for lack of Interoperability between blockchain. They were made with the intent of ensuring fast, smooth and less expensive cross chain transactions. Due to their intentions, I haven't come across and centralised bridge that made security a priority. Most of them were focused more on transaction speed and a cut down in gas fees. Because of this, they've not only been victims to hackers but they've become a sort of gateway that enables hackers gain access to blockchains.
This year alone close to 3 billion US dollars has been siphoned from different crypto platforms and bridges have had something to do with it, even the recent BNB chain hack, the exploit occurred when a bridge attached to the Binance chain was attacked
2 million BNB worth almost 600 million US dollars was looted. The hacker managed to forge proofs on the Binance bridge the fake proofs tricked the bridge into verifying two 1-million-BNB transactions. This has become a major concern in the Crypto industry and I think it's time real, secure and trusted solutions for the problem of lack of Interoperability start surfacing.
