I didn't know this till I tried it
Stand up!! Yes you, I'm talking to you.
Which subject teacher uses this word?😂 You just thought of your teacher or professor. I know anyone can use the word "Stand up" but it's scary when that word is used on you.😫
Have you ever been in a class and you're just trying to mind your business and pay attention and while the teacher is teaching, he decides to turn and pick you out? Why?😠It scares me alot.
Now this happened to me, it was in a physics class. I love physics, it's a nice subject but this particular topic just didn't smile at me and I didn't smile at it either. It was Projectiles. You just said Ahhh. There's someone out there who just solves questions on projectiles like it's nothing. I know you think it's not hard, it really isn't but for me, I just didn't want to even try the topic and see how sweet it was.
I was scared of projectiles. This particular day I was in class and my physics teacher walked in with a smile. I always get excited when we're having physics but the moment I don't like the topic or the topic is announced everything just gets hard.
Teacher: Good morning class, today we'll be taking projectiles, then he wrote the topic on the board and underlined it. Me: Oh God! I liked every other thing about projectiles but when it comes to solving questions, I no fit😑, and it made the topic so scary.
Fast forward to when my physics teacher was done with giving the definition, examples of a projectile and formulas used to solve a projectile question. He gave the class a question to solve, it looked weird to me because I didn't know. The question required that we give two answers. We were to find the maximum height and the longest horizontal distance and my physics teacher liked an interactive class.
As usual, my mates were giving their different answers but I just solved mine and remained quiet because I didn't know if my answer was correct, then this happened. He asked for the longest horizontal distance and this time, he urged the class to be quiet, then he called me and I was confused, then he said "Stand up! Yes you, I'm talking to you". I became scared because I didn't know the answer. I didn't know that Range is the longest horizontal distance.
If I tried to follow up with the topic, or maybe ask for help and even try solving questions on projectiles, I won't have that challenge. There's this confidence you have when you know about something compared to when you don't.
That physics has taught me to always try something and see how it goes, rather than conclude. I pictured the projectile topic as being so tough and difficult even when it wasn't because I didn't try.
Don't conclude that something is so hard when you haven't tried it. Try that thing you feel is hard for you today. It could be learning a new skill, reaching out to your crush, sending in that cold email, applying for that job, whatever it is, try it out first😊
