Books :(

Mediocre authors are killing me.
I recall reading mafia-themed books as a child, it was hush hush, the kind of books that will send chills down your spine and it scares you so bad you can’t speak of it out loud, so you say it in a whisper. 
My first and the greatest of all times was “The Godfather” by Mario Puzo, the book was outstanding, and that’s how my idea of what Mafia books should look like. 

Now, the plot of all "mafia" books and book topics is essentially the same. Politically-motivated arranged marriages often result in the female receiving extreme hate or verbal abuse from her husband. However, after a traumatic event, such as an accident or a murderous plot against the new bride, the mafia lord who serves as the new husband comes to realize his love for her, and the couple goes on to live happily ever after.

Or a mafia boss kidnaps the daughter of another mafia boss and uses intimidation to force the father to submit to him while subjecting the said daughter to degrading treatment, verbal abuse, and occasionally physical abuse before realizing he loves her. From the perspective of the daughter, while she is being treated cruelly, she is sexually attracted to and turned on by everything he does.
