My Top 2 CEXs For Acquiring Altcoin Gems
A Key Element Of Micro-Cap & Altcoin Investing
When it comes to altcoin investing, identifying future gems is paramount. One of the downsides of under-the-radar projects is availability. Once a coin is listed on Binance or any other major exchange for that matter, the significant gains have already been realized. Early investors have no option but to make use of less prominent exchanges if they are to gain exposure to, as well as experience life-changing gains. It’s a necessary move, not an option.
In actual fact, it’s this very dynamic that has caused certain exchanges to explode in popularity. There are a handful of exchanges that have realized just how viable it is to list micro-caps and other under-the-radar projects. The most prominent of these exchanges is undoubtedly, KuCoin. However, I have found the following exchanges to be equally as effective, and in certain instances, even more effective.
Gate.io
Gate has been operational for a number of years, and like KuCoin, offers a plethora of altcoins and micro-caps. This CEX continues to provide exposure to some of the more sought-after and under-the-radar projects that you will battle to find on other exchanges. When it came to a recent altcoin pick, Centrifuge, Gate was the only exchange I felt comfortable using to acquire my CFG.
Regardless of how reputable an exchange is, it’s always advisable to secure custody of your assets as soon as possible. Personally, I have found that when I am unable to locate a certain coin, chances are, I will find it on Gate. It’s a great backup to have. Especially, if you are primarily a KuCoin user and are unable to locate a particular coin or token.
I have however found that Gate can sometimes be a little heavy in terms of withdrawal fees, which is why I usually try to source projects elsewhere, if possible. There are however occasions where Gate is the only option, and at the end of the day, the most important aspect is that I acquire my desired coins. I will pay a little more, as long as I can acquire my altcoins of choice.
MEXC Global
This particular exchange has really grown on me and usually provides access to the majority of altcoins and micro-caps on my shortlist. I am usually able to source the majority of my altcoin purchases on MEXC, and as mentioned above, will look to Gate in the event that I am unable to source projects here or elsewhere. Many of the micro-cap projects I have written about are available on MEXC, or alternatively, Gate.
The volumes are also reasonably healthy on MEXC, which is always an important aspect to take note of and aids in providing a level of confidence. Generally speaking, the withdrawal fees are fairly competitive, and in certain instances, even more affordable than many major exchanges. In certain instances, some exchanges tend to capitalize on the fact that many of their offerings are somewhat exclusive.
You will often find that certain exchanges tend to deviate from the “acceptable benchmark”. Charging withdrawal fees well in excess of what has been established as standard practice. It’s encouraging to see that MEXC offers valuable listings, accompanied by acceptable withdrawal fees. It could also well be one of the factors contributing to MEXC’s growth and adoption. It’s an age-old rule of business:
Look after your clientele and they will look after you.
Great business models leave both parties feeling satisfied. Choosing to abandon this balance is oftentimes the commencement of decline and irrelevancy. For now, MEXC seems to have found the perfect equilibrium. Hopefully, it’s a trend that continues, along with the aggressive listing of new and up-and-coming projects that are still flying below the radar.
Final Thoughts
At the end of the day, many Crypto investors will look to Binance and other heavy hitters in the space. Unfortunately, these exchanges tend to be rather limited in terms of providing exposure to alpha. In my opinion, KuCoin, MEXC, and Gate are great alternatives to have access to in the event that your exchange of choice does not offer access to a desired altcoin. I use multiple exchanges, for multiple reasons.
Each has its own unique benefits, and I utilize whichever is best for the objective at hand. This is not an endorsement of the abovementioned exchanges. These are exchanges that I have found beneficial regarding my altcoin investments. Please conduct your own due diligence and research. All the best! See you in the next one!
