YESTERDAY EXPERIENCE.
Yesterday I was thinking about some very near-tragedy experiences I had gone through.
During the national service, I fell ill and went to the hospital. Thank God for NHIS, I got my prescription for free and was on my way home when my brother called me. I had filled a form at the hospital and put down my brother's details as my next of kin, a thing I do casually. My brother called to inform me that the hospital I just departed from called him as my number was not going through and what did they tell him?? They gave me the wrong drugs. The attendant mistakenly gave me the prescription for an hypertensive patient and gave mine to the person (after telling me how to take the drugs oh).
I hopped off the korepe (the town service bus in Osogbo) and went back for the serious error to be corrected.
More than a decade ago, moi moi was prepared as lunch at home and we all ate. I had taken my bath and walked to the other side of the compound but as I entered the door of the person I went to see, my consciousness stopped. I opened my eyes when a thin, long pipe-like thing was being inserted through my nose to my stomach and the moi moi was being drawn out. The story was, the chemical used to preserve the beans had not completely worn off and na me e con affect.
WHAT IFs.
What if my brother's line had not gone through and the hospital couldn't reach me on time? What if the unsafe moi moi had prevailed against me? What??
I'm grateful to God for my life. Caution could fail and little mistakes could be deadly. And then, these costly errors and moments may not even be our fault or by our doings. Na God we dey.
